He reflects on his home of the past eight years and gives us a peek inside.

As President Barack Obama prepares for the end of his second term, he looks back on the past eight years with a sense of pride. He recently narrated a video tour of the White House, giving some insight as a resident of the country’s most famous address.

Understandably, the first night was an overwhelming experience. It’s a place with an extensive history that one can only begin to imagine. But ultimately, it’s a place that belongs to the people and the country. He explains that they always knew it was a temporary position but it’s a privilege not to be taken lightly.

“While you’re here, you may be part of the first family but once your term’s up, your gonna be a citizen once again. And that, I think is both humbling but extremely gratifying, because it reminds us that this is a democracy. Those who come into this office are here temporarily, and someday soon, there’s gonna be somebody else who takes up that mantle. And you just make sure that in the time you’re here, you’re doing the best you can to serve the people that sent you.”
