Join The Advocate on Tuesday, June 1, at 8 p.m. Eastern for a virtual celebration to commemorate our 2021 The Advocate Champions of Pride. Cohosted by editor in chief Tracy E. Gilchrist with comedian and star of Freeform's Good Trouble, Sherry Cola, the virtual event promises to be an evening full of LGBTQ+ celebrity guests like Brazilian drag sensation Pabllo Vittar, performances by emerging LGBTQ+ musicians, and interviews with the incredible advocates whose work inspired this list.

There are amazing LGBTQ+ people improving visibility and fighting for the rights of our community in every state across the country, even if they don’t get national attention. To address that, The Advocate’s Champions of Pride highlights LGBTQ+ activists, artists, politicians, and everyday people who are making a difference for the rest of us. Our team selected change-makers from each U.S. state who are advancing equality for LGBTQ+ and intersectional groups on the ground and inspiring others to do the same.

With a traffic-stopping voice and powerful presence, Kat Cunning adds soulful grace to anthemic alternative pop. This nonbinary musician, actor, and dancer has a storytelling prowess unlike anything we’ve seen before.

Jake Wesley Rogers was just signed by Grammy-nominated songwriter, artist, and advocate Justin Tranter. Rogers is a songwriter whose bold music is queer storytelling refracted through a universal lens. He’ll be performing a song from his EP, out later this year.

Indie pop wunderkind Madeline the Person feels everything at once. Bright and colorful on the outside, she uses her music to express the more painful aspects of her world. With the release of her first EP, Chapter 1: The Longing, this 19-year-old is already shining as bright as the future that lies ahead.
