We at Out Traveler are happy to announce a new daily — we hope — feature. Our "Shot of the Day" will highlight a beautiful vacation picture from anyone (but hopefully LGBT). If you have an arresting travel shot, please send it to editor@outtraveler.com with a sentence or two describing the details; where and when it took place, and maybe your favorite memory of that trip.
Our first "Shot of the Day" is of your truly, the editor of this site, on a solo trip to Kauai, Hawaii this past Thanksgiving. I'm standing in front of a taro field in Princeville, a tony, tiny town in the north of the island (taro is a tuber vegetable, kind of like a potato). Like much of Kauai, this vantage point on the Kuhio Highway was mostly unpopulated, save for many crowing roosters. The view of the taro field was absolutely stunning; like an idealized image of Earth. It took my breath away.
