The St. Regis Deer Valley near Park City, Utah is know for its luxury accommodations and access to nearby skiing and hiking trails. With some of the most luxurious amenities of any mountain resort in the world, it offers 24-hour butler services, ski valets, and 10,000-bottle wine vault.
Guests may chose to arrive via the world-class funicular, the only at a North American resort. But it's in St. Regis's nightly champagne service that luxury meets entertainment with a splash of history as sommeliers open and serve complimentary champagne with a sword.

At the resort's Champagne Sabering Tradition, held every evening at dusk, guests learn the history of sabrage and enjoy a complimentary flute of champagne or cider. Sommeliers will also teach interested guests how to open a bottle of champagne with a real saber themselves. The technique, which became popular in France under the reign of Napoleon, involves striking the bottle with the flat edge of a sword in a way that breaks away the top of the neck without removing the cork.
