Everything We Know About Trixie Mattel’s Palm Springs Motel

It’s called Trixie Motel.

Trixie Mattel is quickly making herself one of RuPaul’s Drag Race’s biggest stars.

Earlier this year, the RuPaul’s Drag Race: All Stars 3 winner announced a new show that was all her own: Trixie Motel. Set to air on Discovery+, the series is set around Mattel’s renovation of a Palm Springs venue in a new business venture with her boyfriend. The business would be her second physical company after she became a co-owner of the Wisconsin bar This Is It! earlier this year. Here’s everything we know so far.

Is the Trixie Motel real?

Apparently! The series revolves around the renovation, reopening, and renaming of a rundown motel in “the heart” of Palm Springs, California. According to a recent episode of UNHhhh, the Trixie Motel location is set to open in late 2021.

What all do we know about the actual motel?

According to Mattel and the series description, there are seven rooms in the motel, a pool area, and a “commercial kitchen.” The revamp aims to make it into the “ultimate drag paradise,” with Mattel as the mascot. All of this set in a perennial gay travel destination. Apparently, renovations have begun.

It is suspected that the motel is at 2249 N Palm Canyon Drive. The location previously was where the Blue Pear Texx Mexx restaurant and Pool House boutique hotel was located. At one point, the space was named The D Resort Specialty Hotel. That iteration closed in 2018. Mattel is expected to have taken control of the entire space including the restaurant.

Mattel is going about the project with her boyfriend and business partner, David. Also, one can expect that there are drag performances from a few of Mattel’s friends at the venue as well occasionally.

And the show?

The series Trixie Motel will air on the streaming service Discovery+ in early 2022. It is composed of eight hour-long episodes. The producers also are behind popular series like Property Brothers as well as The Nate & Jeremiah Home Project.

What about celebrities?

In a sales pitch of the show, Mattel flashes a few celebrity guests on screen: Orville Peck, Dan Levy, Paris Hilton, and Tiffany Pollard.
