The controversial rapper will take to the West Hollywood stage in June, along with Jennifer Hudson, Mary Lambert, Betty Who and The Bangles.

L.A. Pride announced an eclectic mix of female performers for the city's Pride festival in June, with New York rapper Azealia Banks the most notorious.

Banks, who achieved acclaim with her single "212," off her EP, 1991, was involved in an ugly Twitter war with Perez Hilton, where she called the blogger "a messy faggot." Banks would state her words were not intended as antigay and that she herself is bisexual. The rapper got into another feud with a music performer and sent him a tweet saying, "may you drown in faggotry." Regardless, Banks performed at Vienna's Life Ball 2013, one of the world's biggest HIV fundraisers.

This isn't the first time L.A. Pride has ventured into controversial waters with their choice of entertainment or grand marshals. Christopher Street West, the organizing arm of L.A. Pride, booked Paris Hilton as grand marshal in 2005. As Hilton has never been an LGBT-right advocate, and is viewed as a vapid airhead, the choice was met with fierce derision. Years later, Hilton would be caught on tape calling gay men "disgusting" and saying most of them "probably have AIDS."

Joining Banks will be Oscar-winner Jennifer Hudson, who will headline Pride on Saturday night. Lesbian singer Mary Lambert is also on deck, as is Australian viral phenom Betty Who. Classic '80s girl band The Bangles are also performing. Read more here.
