Actor Mario Lopez Tapped to Grand Marshal Pride Festivities in Miami Beach for 2015
Mario Lopez - the Emmy award winner and dimple-cheeked heartthrob whose credits include Extra, Nip/Tuck and, of course, Saved by the Bell - has been named Grand Marshal for Miami Beach Gay Pride 2015. A long-time LGBTQ ally, Lopez has supported the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) as a participant in “Amplify Your Voice”, an anti bullying campaign for gay teens, as well as acted as presenter at the group’s various media awards.
“We are extremely excited about bringing Mario to Miami Beach for our seventh annual Pride,” said Mark Fernandes, chair of the Pride Board. “His personal charisma coupled with his universal appeal as a multi-faceted entertainer will delight Pride’s guests and help make this year’s event the biggest and best ever.”
The Miami Beach Gay Pride Parade sets off at noon on Sunday, April 12 along Ocean Drive from 5th to 15th Streets and is expected to draw over 100,000 of South Florida’s LGBTQ community, their families, friends, and allies. A Pride Festival will follow with live performances on four stages, community booths and refreshments. For more information visit miamibeachgaypride.com.
