RoamTM allows users to temporarily place their profiles in other regions, perfect for planning those extra sexy vacation memories.

Grindr, the popular gay dating and hookup app, celebrated its 15th anniversary today by launching RoamTM. The new core travel feature allows users to temporarily place their profiles in gayborhoods around the world where they interact with local users.

It’s all part of Grindr’s new mission statement and 15-year journey to make the popular gay dating and hookup app the local Gayborhood in your pocket, no matter where you and your derriere are parked.

RoamTM allows users to temporarily place their profiles in other geographic regions for up to one hour. This gives travelers the option to explore the local gayborhood, making connections and plans that might even impact their travel itinerary.

Grindr’s Explore already lets users observe profiles in other geographic regions. RoamTM improves on this feature by allowing users to become a part of the Grindr gayborhood in that region, appearing on lists and able to be seen by and chat with local users.

“Grindr is the connective tissue for the gay community around the world, and as we set out to fulfill our new mission, I’m excited to provide digital access to the important relationships, resources, and information that exist in so many physical Gayborhoods,” said Grindr CEO George Arison. “With new features like Roam, we look forward to continuing to innovate the Grindr platform in order to meet the diverse needs of our users and drive a lasting impact for people everywhere.”

The feature is currently being tested on selected markets, but Arison hopes to have RoamTM live for the global Grindr gayborhood later this year hopefully in time for some fun in the summer sun.

RoamTM is another step in Grindr’s efforts to give back to the LGBTQ+ community. Grindr for Equality has advanced health and human rights for millions of Grindr users and the global LGBTQ+ community in partnership with more than 150 LGBTQ+ organizations around the world.
