Tourists took the law into their own hands on a crowded flight from Bangkok to Russia as they reportedly "neutralized" a 26-year-old passenger with tape and belts. After take off, a drunk and disorderly passenger became too much for the flight crew to handle after consuming a brought-on bottle of whisky. He was displaying "offensive and threatening behavior" and the pilot warned that the plane would have to make an emergency landing in either Mongolia or China. The passengers were having none of that.
A male passenger "hit the hooligan several times and with the help of other tourists tied him up," according to a quote from the Russian Interior Ministry. The S7 passengers then began handing belts up the galley that were used to tie the aggressive man.
The man remained on the floor of the galley for the remainder of the flight.
He was apprehended upon arriving in Novosibirsk where he received some medical attention.
