"...being deaf at an airport means I need a wheelchair?"
Winner of America's Next Top Model and deaf activist Nyle DiMarco has slammed Delta Air Lines after he was met by a gate agent with a wheelchair. The openly pansexual hottie shared a video on his social media channels that showed an extremely akward exchange when he exited his recent Delta flight. A male gate agent with a wheelchair was waiting for DiMarco with a screen with his name on it, and asks if it's him.
"Not a clear video but apparently being deaf at an airport means I need a wheelchair," DiMarco said in the clip that has been viewed thousands of times.
He also added: "Y'all should've seen the look on the guy's face tho lmao...He knew delta made a huge mistake."
After watching the video online, Delta's social media team quickly apologized for the confusion.
"Hi Mr. DiMarco. my apologies, but I'm just seeing your video,' the airline said in their response. 'I'm sorry that there was some confusion regarding your itinerary. Please follow and DM your confirmation # so that I may review and relay your experience with our leadership team," they tweeted.
They also released the following statement: "Delta apologizes for a miscommunication that resulted in this customer being offered a wheelchair upon deplaning. We are also working with our wheelchair service provider to investigate what occurred."
