7 Movies to Celebrate Summer at the Hollywood Bowl

Academy Award–winning live performances, movies, popcorn, and long summer nights...count us in. 

You know summer is here when Los Angelenos flock to the Hollywood Bowl to enjoy concerts and movies. This year, the organizaiton celebrates Academy Award-winning films and iconic scores by some of the biggest names in film music; John Williams’ Oscar-winning scores for Jaws and Star Wars: A New Hope, and Oscar-nominated score for Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back; Henry Mancini’s Oscar-nominated score for The Pink Panther; and Patrick Doyle’s spectacular score for Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Each film is shown in full on the Bowl’s giant screen with the orchestra performing the score live.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire- in Concert
Thursday, July 5, at 8pm

Rediscover the magic of the fourth film in the series in high definition on our big screen while the LA Phil performs Patrick Doyle’s unforgettable score live-to-picture.
 
Jaws – in Concert
Friday and Saturday, July 20 and 21, at 8pm

The original summer blockbuster, with an Academy Award®-winning score by composer John Williams, Jaws is an unforgettable film-with-live-orchestra experience.

Star Wars: A New Hope - in Concert
Tuesday and Friday, August 7 and 10, at 8pm
Los Angeles Philharmonic
David Newman, conductor

John Williams’ iconic score will be performed live-to-picture as George Lucas’ film plays in high definition.

 
The Pink Panther - in Concert
Wednesday, August 8, at 8pm
Hollywood Bowl Orchestra

Inspector Clouseau’s bumbling adventure plays on the big screen accompanied by the jazzed-up sounds of the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra.
 
Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back - in Concert

Star Wars and the Los Angeles Philharmonic join forces for Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back – in Concert, featuring the iconic movie on the big screen while the orchestra performs John Williams’ legendary score live.

The cinematic master celebrates the 40th anniversary of his Bowl debut with a selection of his biggest movie hits, including some with film clips. David Newman kicks it off with other classic scores.


Sing-A-Long Sound of Music
Saturday, September 22, at 6pm (pre-show), 7:30pm (film)

Sing-along with the von Trapps and thousands of fellow music fans. Don a clever costume for the pre-show contest with hilarious host Melissa Peterman at the Bowl’s special screening of the Oscar-winning film.
