Meet The Men (and Livestock) of the Irish Farmers Calendar

Meet the Men of the Irish Farmers Calendar

Meet the Men of the Irish Farmers Calendar

Nothing will warm up a winter's day like half-naked Irishmen holding fuzzy farm animals.

We originally published this story in November 2015, but since today is St. Patrick's Day we thought it deserved another visit.

Let’s face it: winter can be rather dreary. By the time you trudge home from work and eat dinner, you swear it’s been dark out for 290,348,009,247,542 hours already, yet it’s only 8 p.m. You shuffle into the living room to discover that all the network shows are on hiatus and you’ve already binged everything Netflix, leaving you with nothing on TV but one more Republican debate you’ll give in to hate watching just to kill time before bed.

Fear not, though, we have exactly what you need to drive the doldrums away: photos of shirtless Irish men posing with cuddly farm animals. These images come courtesy of photographer Ciara Ryan who, for the past seven years, has published the cheeky (and hugely successful) Irish Farmers wall calendar. Come March 2016, these bonny lads will come ashore in the U.S., albeit through photos, bios and quotes on the pages of an Irish Farmers book (St. Martin’s Griffin). Expected retail price is $15.99 with 10% of the proceeds going to Ciara’s favorite cause, the Bóthar charity, a group that sends livestock to the developing world.
