Imagine shopping in New York City without shouldering through crowds or waiting in cramped line with strangers for fitting rooms.
With their first U.S. boutique, WANT Les Essentiels is aiming for a welcoming environment to defuse the hectic atmosphere that surrounds shopping in NYC. Located on a quiet, tree-lined street in the West Village, the shop is designed like a townhouse, giving guests a feeling of home the moment they enter.
Curated by co-founders Byron and Dexter Peart, the space features the complete WANT Les Essentiels accessories collection in the house’s “living room.” In the room adjacent, the “wardrobe,” houses men’s and women’s apparel, and the “tearoom” has essential tools for living.
“Our brand has always spoken to an inherent sense of discovery and community,” said Byron and Dexter in a release. “The way we live our lives, traveling between Montreal and New York, we have come to value permanence and a strong connection to something familiar. With this boutique, we wanted to create an environment that feels comfortable, honest and at peace.”
As with any boutique in New York City, architecture and design play a key role in the experience of the shopper. European mid-century furnishings, American minimal art, and eclectic accents highlight the building’s historic features. The boutique not only features quintessential WANT Les Essentiels favorites, but also select finds from other brands like TOMORROWLAND (Tokyo), Comme des Garçons Forever (Tokyo), Aspesi (Milan), Filippa K (Stockholm), 1205 (London), and Casely-Hayford (London).
The WANT Les Essentiels boutique is located at 301 W 4 Street, New York NY.
