With over 5,000 curated LGBTQ+ titles on free live TV, along with LGBTQ-focused series, news, and exclusive programming, Revry decided that sharing Hedwig and The Angry Inch with the community was the perfect way to celebrate both the season and the 20th anniversary of this groundbreaking, sidesplitting, and rocking hit. The hit rock musical streams for free through January 31, 2022, here.
Adapted from the groundbreaking off-Broadway hit of the same name, Hedwig and The Angry Inch is the hilarious and ribald story of “internationally ignored” East German rock star Hedwig and her search for love, fame, and identity while living in a Kansas trailer park after a botched gender-affirming medical procedure. She gets the band together, performing at small venues like a local salad bar, until young protégé Tommy Gnosis steals her heart and her songs, using them to become the international rock star Hedwig always wanted to be.
The film stars John Cameron Mitchell as Hedwig and Michael Pitt (The Dreamers) as the backstabbing yet thirsty Tommy. Mitchell also wrote and directed the screenplay, which was based on the musical created by Mitchell and Stephen Trask.
