Coachella Announces All-Star Lineup that is Here for the Gays

Ariana Grande! Janelle Monáe! Kacey Musgraves! Jaden Smith! SOPHIE!

Hang onto your fake ponytails, girls: Ariana Grande is headlining Coachella this year. Just keep breathin’ and breathing and breathin’ and breathin’ and breathin'.

Girls and gays flocking to Indio, California won’t be decked out in cutoff jeans, floppy hats, tie dye and flower crowns this year. Instead, they’ll brave the 100 degree heat in oversized hoodies and thigh high boots, plus an inch of foundation, contour and winged eyeliner so sharp you could cut someone with it (maybe an ex-boyfriend). Undoubtedly a few of them will recreate the bodypaint from the “God is a woman” music video or come in groups as the Plastics from Mean Girls. The possibilities are limited.

Grande will close out the final night of the three-day music festival, long relegated as the ultimate headlining slot. The other big headliners are Childish Gambino, playing Friday, and Tame Impala, playing Saturday. Ok, sure.

But besides Grande, Coachella is pretty fucking gay this year. Bisexual queen Janelle Monae, country-pop goddess Kacey Musgraves, Justin Bieber’s boyfriend Jaden Smith and OUT100 Artist of the Year SOPHIE play the festival Friday. Solange, Christine and the Queens, Louis Vuitton artistic director Virgil Abloh and for some reason actor Idris Elba play Saturday. (maybe Elba is trying out some of the music from Cats live?) Grande, Dev Hynes’ Blood Orange, Sofi Tukker and Lizzo close out Coachella on Sunday.

The festival will take place over two weekends, from April 12 to 14 and 19 to 21. Passes go on sale this Friday at 11am PT.
