Ever since Sugar Wood, the adult-themed dessert shop, took Manhattan by storm when they soft-launched at 157 Prince Street this past June just in time for Pride, their moist and creamy penis-shaped “Woody” waffles have been selling like the hotcakes.
And now they will celebrate their grand opening Friday, October 7, and Saturday, October 8, by elevating their gooey, cream-slathered, vagina-molded “Kitty” waffles.
And you can dip your tongue into the Kitty and take a big bite knowing it’s for a good cause.
That’s because the Women’s Wave March, a nationwide movement to Defend Abortion Access & Defeat the Right, will be taking place steps away in Washington Square Park on Saturday.
And to incentivize people to make their voices heard, Sugar Wood will serve up free Kittys to marchers from 3pm to 4pm.
“We support women’s autonomy over their own bodies and lives,” says Sugar Wood founder and CEO Austin Allan.
He likens the “Kitty” waffle to the pussy hat, adding that marchers will be free to do what they want with their waffle. They can choose a traditional cinnamon and vanilla waffle or the new vegan chocolate chip waffle. They can then select between six decadent sauces: milk chocolate, salted caramel, white chocolate, vegan hot fudge, strawberry chocolate or peanut butter.
“We usually dip the waffle in one sauce, and then drizzle another on top,” says Allan. “It’s quite a show.”
Of course, no visit to pet the Kitty would be complete without dipping your Woody as well.
In addition to the Kitty giveaway, Sugar Wood will celebrate its grand opening with other fun events over the weekend, including raffles, drag performances, and other surprises.
“Our intention is not to be vulgar or pornographic but to be silly, fun, and lighthearted,” Mr. Allan continues. “We simply want to make people laugh; create a bright spot in their day or trip to NYC. And we want to do a little good in the world by breaking down societal taboos and championing causes that are important to us and our customers.”
Sugar Wood is located at 157 Prince Street and open Wednesdays through Sundays. Its Grand Opening event takes place October 7 and 8 from 2pm - 10pm.
