This year marks the 70th anniversary of the Auschwitz liberation. To commemorate the occasion, Hebro Travel — a company that caters to gay Jews and those who love them — has planned a nine-day Jewish history and cultural tour across Poland and the Czech Republic from August 8-16, 2015 that will include the first-ever gay Jewish group tour of the Auschwitz-Birkenau and Theresienstadt concentration camps.
Additionally, tour-goers will hold a private memorial service for the thousands of gay men and women who lost their lives at the camps, as well as make stops on the Schindler’s List route and in Prague’s Jewish Quarter. The entire excursion will be capped off on a jubilant note as tour participants take part in Prague Pride.
“It was important for me to show the celebration of life that has been created since that time devastating time in history,” remarked Jayson Littman, Founder & President of Hebro Travel. “Many Jewish groups tour through Poland and end their trips in Israel to tell the story of a celebratory creation of a Jewish state after the atrocities of the Holocaust. Ending the trip in Prague for Pride, which just began there in 2011, will offer our participants a chance to see how in 70 years, two identities that were persecuted can now celebrate openly in an area where that once was impossible.”
In addition to the Prague and Czech Republic trip, Hebro Travel also has an Israel and Tel Aviv Pride trip (June 5-14) and a Fort Lauderdale Destination Weekend (April 24-26) in the works. For more information on any of these trips, visit HebroTravel.com.
