All during the year, Park City is packed with activities — some require getting your heart rate up, while others demand vistors be completely horizontal. The hard part is deciding what you're going to squeeze in during your time in Park City. Don't worry, we have some suggestions:
Ski & Board
There is a wealth of activities in Park City, but the highlight is the powdery slopes. Park City Mountain Resort, the epicenter of Elevation UTAH and one of three ski/board resorts in Park City, should be your home base. PCMR, with 114 trails, hosted part of the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics (check out this interactive map to get your bearings). It's easy to see what the Olympic committee saw in the resort; the slopes are expertly manicured and there's a great balance of skill levels, with plenty of trails for beginner, intermediate, and expert skiiers and boarders.
Snow bunnies should definitely take advantage of the twice-daily complimentary mountain tours at PCMR, where you can learn about the rich history of Park City, which began as a mining town before morphing into an adult playground.
Hitting the slopes is often exhausting, but there are plenty of options for catching your second wind at Park City Mountain Resort. With over a dozen places to eat and drink at the resort, it's hard to decide on one. We love the Snow Hut, a great place for people watching, burger eating, and personal sunning, with its outdoor deck. The Snow Hut will be even better after a complete renovation that wraps next season.
Après Ski
Enjoying an after-ski drink is practically a must in Park City, even if it's non-alcoholic (a hot chocolate always hits the spot). Legends Bar and Grill and PayDay Pizza, both at Park City Mountain Resort, allows skiiers and boarders to enjoy hot appetizers, coffee, and cocktails. Other options include the High West Distillery & Saloon, the No Name Saloon, or the Pig Pen Saloon.
During Elevation UTAH, make sure to hit up Downstairs and Silver restaurant.
Park City Sans Snow
While Park City is often associated with skiing and snowboarding, the city is alive 12 months of the year. A wealth of warmer weather activities occur in Park City, including some incredible hiking trails. Strolling along historic Main Street is a favorite activity of locals; if you indulge as a visitor, stop by the Park City Museum, which chronicles the town's colorful mining history. Many spring, summer, and fall visitors opt for an organized tour, like the Park City Ghost Tour. Feel like relaxing among Park City's splendor? The city has over a dozen spas to pamper yourself or your partner or spouse.
Shop Park City
Make sure to carve out some time for browsing and/or buying in Park City's numerous shops, stores, and boutiques. You'll look sharp at the ski lodge after an excursion at Hathenbruck or Prospect, two stores offering carefully curated menswear. Root'd is a great choice for home goods and gifts, while a little bit of everything can be found at the much-loved Tanger Outlet. Need some new sports equipment? Check out Cole Sport, which has multiple locations in the area. If you're so inspired, swing by Burns Cowboy Shop and grab some boots that will last you for decades.
