The planned SkyRise tower got an early nod from Miami officials, who are willing to provide some government largesse to get the insane project off the ground.
The skyscraper, to be located on the waterfront, would be one of Miami's tallest. It would include restaurants, bars, nightclubs, an amusement park, a jump experience, a flying simulator, and an observation tower. Supporters see it as an iconic piece of architecture for Miami's mostly-generic skyline, likening it to the Space Needle and the Eiffel Tower. The 1,000-foot tall SkyRise is expected to attract 3 million visitors annually. Nearby, there are plans for a grand makeover of a large swath of Miami's downtown.
