Live Proposal for Vegas Drag Superstar Frank Marino
Frank Marino, the longest-running headliner in Las Vegas, got engaged on Tuesday in front of a live audience of his Divas show.
Marino has been the star of Divas, Vegas's popular female impersonation show, for a quarter of a decade (it now includes takes on everyone from Katy Perry to Madonna). The author, columnist, and newscaster was in the middle of a Divas performance on Tuesday — which is now hosted at Caesar's Quad Resort and Casino — when his longtime partner, associate producer Alex Schechter, got down on one knee. Inspired by the Supreme Court tossing out California's Proposition 8 and the antigay Defense of Marriage Act, Schechter decided now was the time to pull the trigger. The couple celebrate their 20th anniversary on Independence Day, but haven't yet decided on when or where they'll tie the knot (Nevada doesn't yet recognize same-sex marriage, but California is a few hours drive away).
