Louisville, Ken. - This year will be the city’s inaugural LGBT Pride and to celebrate, Louisville, Kentucky is holding a “Say I Do in Lou” contest for an all-expenses-paid wedding weekend (September 18-20, 2015) that includes airfare, accommodations, a wedding and one giant reception (everyone at Pride). The contest is open to all U.S. residents and all that’s needed to enter is a video of the betrothed telling their love story (in 60 seconds or less) and then uploading it to the Louisville, Kentucky Facebook page. Hurry though, submissions are due no later than August 11.

New York, NY - This week, Nielsen, a leading global provider of information and insights, released a new report, “Proudly Setting Trends: The 2015 LGBT Consumer Report” that detailed lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender buying trends and, not surprisingly, identified LGBT households as an important market segment for retailers to target. Not only do LGBT households make 10% more shopping trips than the average U.S. household, they were spending an average of 7% more. And where are LGBT shoppers more likely to shop? Book stores (72% more likely), liquor stores (55%), pet stores (32%) and electronics stores (28%).

Hamburg, Germany - The International Queer Film Festival has announced dates (October 20 - 25) for its 26th year of being the biggest and longest-running film festival of its kind in Germany. The festival features films covering the full spectrum of gay and lesbian film with a supporting program of talks, workshops and parties. For more information, go to lsf-hamburg.de

West Hollywood, Calif. - The West Hollywood Chamber of Commerce recently launched a new “Eat, Shop, Play” campaign that features a cadre of young cavorters enjoying the city’s many dining, shopping and hospitality options. Currently, West Hollywood attracts over 1.3 million visitors each year spending over $700 million. The campaign has already begun running outdoor, in print and online.
