The Fort Lauderdale Visitors and Convention Bureau is prepping for marriage equality in Florida, set to begin January 6, and plans to celebrate by inviting couples from around the world to wed on its warm beaches.
The organization is planning to bring 100 couples to Fort Lauderdale, not only to celebrate the advent of same-sex marriage in the Sunshine State, but to also call attention to the 100th anniversary of Broward County, home of Fort Lauderdale.
A date and location hasn't been disclosed for the wedding, but Nicki Grossman, president of the Visitors Burea, told the Sun-Sentinel, "We're going to pull out all the stops, just like a proud father does when their child marries."
Fort Lauderdale, home of the country's favorite gay beach, attracted at least 1.3 million LGBT visitors last year; a group that spent over $1.5 billion in the city.
