The city may have a conservative reputation but it also has a queer side it proudly embraces.

Colorado Springs, Colo. was named one of the nation's gayest cities by The Advocate and locals are tickled pink.

Even though the city is the home of Focus on the Family and other ultra-conservative organizations, it still has much LGBT cred. From high-end stores to roller derby leagues to a plethora of LGBT bars and clubs, Colorado Springs has much to offer to queer travelers. When The Advocate (a sister publication to Out Traveler) recently named Colorado Springs the nation's 13th gayest city, its local visitor's bureau was very happy, according to a local report.
