Plan on the Whym

There are some of us that do little planning when it comes to our vacations, prefering instead to just "get lost". Leaving home, all we may know is where we are headed and leave the rest to disposition and chance. And, now for us, there's Whym, an app that provides its users with discounted guided tours, museum entry, cruises, bike tours, and other "Must-Do" attractions, all at a click of a button. Currently available in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, San Diego, Paris, Rome and Barcelona, by summer, Whym will expand into New York City, Dubai, Singapore, Australasia, Amsterdam, Dublin, Edinburgh, and Prague. 

Against the Groupon model, which doesn’t benefit the retailer, Whym will be working with smaller tour operators and other local providers to build out categories and niche target markets, based on region specificity, like the LGBT community. Although the discounts offered are relatively modest right now (but, hey, a discount is a discount!), Whym CEO Jack Harris has suggested the app will soon implement more flexible discounts, flash offers, and price matching adding that Whym, “wants to inspire travelers with incentive pricing to experience what they wouldn’t normally do.”
