Closeted pianist and performer Liberace is roaring back to life, thanks to a hologram company that's helping create a stage show featuring the star's likeness.
Hologram USA, which created the memorable Tupac Shakur hologram at the 2012 Coachella event, will be bringing Mr. Showmanship back for audiences. The company said this is the first of many celebrity hologram projects it's working on.
The Liberace Foundation, which grants music scholarships and once operated a museum dedicated to the singer's life, did not release when or where the show will debut, but did say there are plans for it to tour outside of Vegas. Real-life Liberace outfits and props will be featured in the show "physically and virtually."
"The groundbreaking work of Hologram USA was no secret to me when their team reached out to the Liberace Foundation. We were thrilled. Above all, they get it,” Jonathan Warren, Chairman of the Liberace Foundation, said in a statement. “They understand what Liberace was about, and are vested in his legacy. Earnings will help us find and fund a new talent just waiting to be discovered. Now, Liberace will once more give you goosebumps. You'll feel the warmth from his heart, the sparkle of his eye and the pure lightening from his fingertips. In the end, history is to be re-lived, not re-written, a legend never dies."
